Forensics
(Speech and Debate)
Cathedral Prep’s Forensics is an interscholastic activity for speech and debate in which students compete in local, state, and national tournaments. Participants can compete on the Junior Varsity and Varsity levels with other leagues in public speaking events, some of which include Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Declamation, Oral Interpretation, Student Congress, Public Forum, and Lincoln Douglas.

Forensics Update
2017 – 2018
Congratulations to senior Joseph Krug who qualified for the NYS Championships for the third straight year in Extemporaneous Speaking. Congratulations also goes to freshman Peter Rao who is now a member of the National Forensics League. The last league tournament of the season is on March 17th at Achievement First in Brooklyn.
2016-2017
Cathedral’s Speech Team concluded another successful season with 7 qualifying for the State Championships at Hofstra: Jasha Basile, Frank Oliva, Antoine Haran, Michael Murphy, Aiden Birth, Jonathan Oscategui, and Rafael Silva. Our recent graduates Birth, Oscategui and Michael Younan all received degrees of Special Distinction from the National Forensics League. As we get ready for another season led by a solid core of seniors, we will continue the Team’s distinguished traditions of success combined with Cathedral brotherhood.
2015-2016
Over 20 Member. 5 competed in the State championship 5 students received membership degree from national forensic League and 35 advanced degrees were awarded to cathedral students
