For the past four years, Father James Rodriguez played a key role in the academic and spiritual formation of our Cathedral men. Teaching them theology and even playing basketball with them after school in the gym, he shared the gift and the joy of the priesthood with them in and out of the classroom.
In addition to his Cathedral responsibilities, Father Rodriguez was also a student himself. A few weeks ago he received a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Saint John’s University. Asked by Bishop DiMarzio two years ago to pursue this specialized training, Father Rodriguez will work this coming September as a full-time counselor for Catholic Charities.
We thank Father Rodriguez for his dedicated service to our community and wish him continued happiness and success in his future assignment.
Dedicated to maintaining a priestly presence at Cathedral, Bishop DiMarzio has appointed two part-time priests to our faculty. Both will teach theology and assist Father Fonti in the spiritual care of our students.
Father Jun-Hee Lee, parochial vicar at St. Mel’s, and Father Christopher Bethge, parochial vicar at Incarnation and a Cathedral alum (`07), will be joining our community at the start of the 2017-2018 Academic Year.
Grateful to Bishop DiMarzio for his dedication to Cathedral, we welcome Fathers Lee and Bethge.
