Mr. Bob Podzius,`70, Comes Home

On November 17th, Mr. Bob Podzius, Class of 1970, came for Mass and to talk to the young men about his call in life. Mr. Podzius and his late brother John, `65, both attended Cathedral. Bob and family decided to dedicate a scholarship to the school this past year named “The Podzius Family Scholarship”. This scholarship is for a student of Character, Christian attitude, strong demonstration of Community Service and Academics. This scholarship was established by the Podzius family and given in support of continuing Cathedral’s rich traditions while keeping the school scholastically competitive, updated and current for today’s world. This year’s scholarships were awarded to senior Alex Fitissov and freshman Richard Melendi.

Mr. Robert Podzius is esteemed alum, who grew up in the parish of Holy Child of Jesus in Richmond. He attended Cathedral from 1966-1970. After, he went to Pace University’s Lubin School of Business earning a degree in Accounting. He has worked as a Finance Manager, Finance Direct, CFO/COO, before ending his career at Apple as a Director in the finance department. Now Mr. Podzius volunteer’s his time to helping returning veterans and members of Alexandria, VA with their entrepreneurial aspirations. Through his career Mr. Podzius did not forget about the Church. He dedicated his time and efforts to Religious education while he worked in California. Thank you Mr. Podzius for your ongoing support and dedication to forming men for greatness!
